As a seasoned commercial photographer, I’ve had the privilege of embarking on an extraordinary journey alongside the remarkable transformation of the historic Victoria Hotel in Rutherglen. From its humble beginnings to its recent grand reveal, this project has been nothing short of captivating, thanks to the visionary minds of Matt and Kate Halpin, the driving forces behind this ambitious endeavour.
Since the inception of renovations on this historic gem, Matt and Kate have exemplified the epitome of collaborative partnership. Their clear briefs, coupled with an appreciation for creative exploration, have provided the perfect canvas for me to weave my photographic magic. From architectural marvels to delectable culinary delights, from capturing the essence of the vibrant personalities behind the scenes to crafting abstract masterpieces that speak volumes, every aspect of this project has been a testament to the power of synergy and shared vision.
But the Victoria Hotel’s metamorphosis is more than just a physical renovation—it symbolises the quiet revitalisation of Rutherglen’s Main Street that has been going on over the last few years. The Victoria joins a lineup of vibrant businesses like Grace, James & Co. Wines (a cellar door in the middle of town…who knew???!!!), The Pickled Sisters, De Bortoli, Caffeine n’ Machine, Hennessy Home + Garden, The Farmer’s Daughter, Warrahbinyah, Daisy Cow and more – if you haven’t been to Rutherglen for a while well, it has changed A LOT in the last few years! In a town steeped in tradition yet pulsating with newfound energy, the Victoria Hotel emerges as a beacon of modernity while paying homage to its storied past. It’s a triple threat of history, innovation, and daring entrepreneurship—a combination that never fails to inspire.
As I work through creative sessions and frame each shot, I can’t help but marvel at the meticulous attention to detail that permeates every corner of the Victoria Hotel. From the chic interiors that seamlessly blend old-world charm with contemporary elegance to Chef Brendan Anderson’s culinary symphony celebrating the region’s finest produce, every element speaks volumes about the dedication to excellence.
But it’s not just about the aesthetics—the Victoria Hotel beckons guests to “dine, gather and rest” inviting them to immerse themselves in an experience that transcends the ordinary. Whether basking in the sun-drenched beer garden or cozying up by the crackling wood fire, there’s a sense of warmth, effortless style and hospitality that permeates every moment.
And let’s not forget the strategic location—a mere stone’s throw away from the Hume Freeway, positioning it as the perfect rendezvous point for travellers from near and far. It’s more than just a hotel; it’s a gateway to the legendary High Country, the Murray River and the picturesque trails of North East Victoria—a promise of adventure and discovery.
So, as we watch the newly renovated Victoria Hotel Rutherglen settle herself into 2024, I extend an invitation to all savvy business owners who seek quality imagery and a desire to build their own visual narrative. Let’s capture the essence of transformation together, one frame at a time.
To embark on your own visual journey or to inquire about building your image library, don’t hesitate to reach out. Let’s create something extraordinary, together.
