Hey there, By George crew!
Guess where we were yesterday? The enchanting historic property Quondong in Wahgunyah, a place that wears many hats, and boy, does it wear them well!
Joined by the wonderful Maree Hawking, Marketing Coordinator for Quondong, and the ever-stylish duo, Marni and her daughter Georgia from Rees & Rees lifestyle merchants in Wangaratta, the day unfolded into a fantastic creative session. Together, we set out to update Quondong’s imagery, capturing the essence of this multifaceted property for socials and the website.
Before I spill the beans on Quondong’s many facets, let’s talk about the magic Marni and Georgia brought from Rees & Rees. They transformed the verandah into a girls’ wine and cheese haven with their stunning table . And can we take a moment to appreciate the charm they added to the property? It was nothing short of photo-ready perfection!
Now, let’s talk about the garden! Quondong’s garden is a textured wonderland, inviting, buzzing with insects and birds, and it gracefully descends to the river flats. I confess, I’m a garden lover, and this one stole my heart. It’s a delicate balance of history and contemporary features, a true testament to the art of pulling a historic building into the modern day seamlessly.
Quondong wears many hats—events, luxury accommodation, a farm, the Play Project, a historic home, a wedding venue, and a garden designed by the talented Somewhere + Kathleen Murphy Design Gardens. It’s a picturesque retreat located just 35 minutes from Yarrawonga, offering a therapeutic haven with custom-built spaces.
Built in the 1880s by an English merchant and his family, the Quondong homestead boasts 9 bedrooms between the historic homestead and the newly-built cottage. It’s a space for all ages, weekend-ready, and equipped with everything for a fantastic family stay.
From custom-built pizza ovens to BBQ areas, campfire spots, and relaxing outdoor spaces, Quondong is perfect for large family gatherings. The farm grounds are designed for both children and adults, featuring a bike track, play spaces, a bocce court, and a refreshing swimming pool.
**Noteworthy Tidbits:**
– The grounds are used by a local children’s group on Wednesdays and Fridays during school term time.
– Visitors can enjoy kayaks, bikes, and play equipment at no extra charge.
– Quondong is also available for weddings and events, but additional provisions and approvals are required.
So, there you have it—the magic, charm, and versatility of Quondong through the lens of Georgie James Photography. Stay tuned for the stunning images coming your way!
