As an event photographer, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the magic of La Fiera Italian Festival in Myrtleford unfold through my lens over the past four years. I started working with the festival organisers building their image library in 2020 – the brief was to create imagery that truly relfected the heart and spirit of this vibrant celebration of Italian culture. La Fiera brings together food, fun, and a sense of community that is truly unparalleled. From the mouthwatering aromas of authentic Italian cuisine to the laughter-filled streets alive with music and dance, La Fiera is an experience that stays with you long after the festival ends.
Building the digital image library for La Fiera has been an absolute joy. The brief was broad (there is a LOT that goes on!!!!), but the goal was clear: to capture the essence of the festival and showcase its unique blend of flavours, traditions, and joyous energy. And let me tell you, it’s been an adventure unlike any other.
One of the highlights of photographing La Fiera is undoubtedly the incredible array of food on offer. From traditional Italian dishes cooked with love by local Italian clubs to the tantalising aromas of freshly baked pizza and chestnuts roasting on an open fire, the festival is a paradise for food lovers. And let’s not forget about the wine – the Alpine Valleys region is renowned for its exquisite wines, and La Fiera offers the perfect opportunity to sample some of the finest drops while soaking up the festive atmosphere.
But La Fiera is more than just a feast for the senses – it’s also a celebration of community and culture. From cooking demonstrations by renowned chefs to entertaining performances by the likes of magician Luigi Zucchini, there’s never a dull moment at La Fiera. And with activities for kids, including the Children’s Hub and the La Fiera Cup Soccer Challenge, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
One of the most touching aspects of La Fiera is the opportunity to connect with the rich history of the Italian community in Myrtleford. Many families settled in the area in the 1950s, bringing with them their traditions, flavours, and a deep sense of pride in their heritage. La Fiera is a celebration of culture, weaving together the old and the new in a vibrant tapestry of community, colour and joy.
As La Fiera Italian Festival returns once again in 2024, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. This year promises to be bigger and better than ever, with an incredible lineup of culinary delights, cultural performances, and family-friendly activities. So why not join us in Myrtleford this May and experience the magic of La Fiera for yourself? La Fiera is held in Myrtleford on the weekend of the 18th & 19th May, 2024.
